This is the recipe that I used in my sugar cookies.
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup Sugar
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 Large Egg
2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
This is my best friend, my Kitchen Aid.
(it was a wedding gift from my Mom and Dad in law)
It helps me in so many ways! I can't bake without it. It makes baking fun and easier...
Procedures:
Cream the butter, sugar and salt into low to medium speed.
Add the egg and vanilla extract.
Mix well until thoroughly incorporated.
Scrape down the sides of the bowl once in a while and mix again.
Add flour. Beat in a low speed just until flour is mixed in.
DO NOT OVERMIX.
Overmixing will makes the dough tough. The cookies will become hard and flat.
Put the dough in a plastic or Saran wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour.
Dust the work surface and the rolling pin with flour. Roll the dough to 1/4 inches thick. Add flour as needed to prevent the dough from sticking.
Cut into desired shapes.
Put a parchment paper on the baking pan and place the cookie cut-outs.
Preheat the oven to 350 degree F.
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the edge of the cookies are light golden brown.
After baking, let the cookies cool completely before decorating.
