{DIY} Paper topiary

Here's the simple, easy and inexpensive topiary that I made for the dessert table on my daughter's first birthday.

Materials needed: Styrofoam ball, skewer or a dowel rod, toothpick, tissue paper, mason jar or a clay pot, floral foam

Here's how I did it:

I put the flower foam inside the mason jar and stuck up the skewer.
On top of the skewer I put the Styrofoam ball.

Fold the tissue paper and round the corner like flower petals.

It should look like this after you cut the corner.

Gather it all together like you're making a ruffle.

Secure the bottom using a tape and insert the toothpick.

Insert the finish flower tissue paper onto the Styrofoam ball.

Voila!

I covered the mason jar with the tissue paper and put curling ribbons to make it look prettier. You can also use a flower vase or a clay pot. Easy huh!

And here it is:

Happy DIY-ing!

One year stats

My daughter just turned one last Saturday and we celebrated it on that day too. Check out here for party photos. Last Monday, we went to her doctor for her 12 month well baby check-up. She also got six shots and it was a very traumatic experience for her. I know! It hurts! My poor baby cried bloody hell and it broke my heart. I just comforted her and after two minutes she was okay.

Weight: 19 lbs 9oz

Height: 28 1/2 inches

Teeth: 4 (2 bottom, 2 top)

Milestone: Walking

Words: Mama, Dada

Sleeping pattern: 12 hours at night, one nap during the day (2-3 hours)

Favorite foods: potatoes, rice, chicken, broccoli, carrots, bread, egg

I just started giving her whole milk and so far she like it and never had a problem.

It's Hello Kitty party!

Last Saturday we celebrated my daughter's first birthday. We rented a building for the party as I'm expecting 30 guests and our house is not big enough to accommodate that. Well, it was really a big party. There are more than 30 people there. Ha! Luckily, we had enough food for everybody. I thought it turned out great. Everybody had a great time and Miss A had a great birthday and she had a blast.

I had fun planning her birthday party. It was a lot of work though. Haha!

Thanks to all who came at the party!

{Cake} Sock Monkey

I made this cake last December {late post, I know!} for a little boy's first birthday. My good friend Laura asked me to make a smash cake and cupcakes for her son's first birthday. Her son and my daughter are only three weeks apart.

She bought the sock monkey printables at Etsy.

I am working on my daughter's birthday cake today. I am almost done with the party stuffs. My daughter is feeling better now but she still has a cough and runny nose but at least she is not fussy anymore. She eats good now and looks happy but I hope she gets even better on her birthday. We are going to have a birthday party this Saturday and I'm excited! Ha! I will post photos, that's for sure.

She is taking a nap that's why I have time to write a blog while doing the laundry as I didn't finished it yesterday because she was fussy which I understand as she is not feeling well. Poor baby! :(

Well, anyway, here is the latest cake that I made.
